The Ongar Art Society was founded over 40 years ago, by War Artist (postumous) Margaret Abbess, during which time it has developed into a growing, progressive society.
We welcome anyone interested in art to come and join us. We hold monthly meetings on the second Thursday of the month at High Ongar Village Hall, Mill Lane, High Ongar, CM5 9RN, between 8pm and 10pm. The Hall offers modern and comfortable facilities and on-site parking.
The programme includes talks and demonstrations. Topics are chosen to provide as much variety and interest as possible. Our members have a wide range of artistic experience and backgrounds, with a common interest in learning and discussing this diverse subject. You don’t have to be an artist to join.
We organise one day art workshops, museum and exhibition visits, plus sketching days and competitions. An important event in our year is the Summer Exhibition and the recently established Winter Art Sale. These events provide an opportunity for members to exhibit and sell their art work.
Visitors are very welcome to our evening meetings, (entrance is £4.00) or you can take annual membership which is £30.00.
If you are interested in learning more about the Ongar Art Society, why not come along one evening, we would love to see you, or you can call our Secretary Lynne Harris on 01277 372123, Chairman Beverly Hughes on 01708 688554 or Membership Secretary Nicola Rhodes on 07958 331381, or use the Contact page on this website.
